PAUL CHAPMAN has been appointed as policy and research manager for Improve, the York-based food and drink sector skills council for the whole of the UK.

Paul, 31, will have responsibility for leading the monitoring and reviewing of labour market information, and developing policies which will help individual sectors maintain their supply of appropriate skills.

He will also be part of the operations team, which works to identify the skills needs of food and drink manufacturers; representing their needs to key agencies such as the development associations, skills partnerships, and learning and skills councils; and enhancing relations between employers and training and educational organisations.

Paul spent five years as head of global research at the York-based CPP Group, and a year as head of corporate marketing at Leeds-based gap-year travel specialists i-to-i Limited.

Originally from the north east, Paul has an MSc in health economics from the University of York.
