LORRAINE Bellwood you are wonderful. I can only echo your views (Letters, November 1).
It is time we thought about what we are doing to our environment. It is not the responsibility of the council to dispose of our thoughtless actions.
Years ago we had one tiny dustbin and one tiny dustcart which dealt with our waste. Now we have mountains of the stuff. Manufacturers need to rethink their packaging and we need to be more discerning in what we buy.
As for the Evening Press and your Bin It! campaign, our problems would be reduced if you stopped contributing to this mountain by sending me two Property Presses each week which I do not need, along with the York Star, which repeats what I have already read and is relegated to the recyling bin, usually accompanied by a whole load of out-of-date advertising material.
Come on now, are you really in the same league as the pizza firms that deliver leaflets and tempt me to buy more cardboard which I also do not want?
Netty Watts,
Lawnswood Drive, York.
