York City Supporters' Trust will hold an election for places on their board after the nomination process attracted five candidates.

Existing Trust board members Kirsten Ovenden and Mike Shannon will both stand for re-election after being required to step down because of the rotation ruling.

David Cocker and Ian Hey - the board's only two co-opted members - have also decided to take part in the election.

The other candidate hoping to claim one of four available places will be Ian Tyssen, who is a very active fundraiser for the club and standing for election to the board for the first time.

Graham Kilby, meanwhile, has decided not to stand for re-election, preferring to concentrate all his time and efforts on the Youth Development Fund after being the third Trust board member required to step down.

The Trust were spared the need to ask a fourth person to apply for re-election or step down because of Dave Potter's resignation.

Trust secretary Stan Collins said: "We're pleased that there are sufficient nominations to provide our members with the ability to exercise their voting power."

Kilby's work with the Youth Development Fund has become even more vital this year with funding towards the club's Centre of Excellence programme of £69,000 from the FA, PFA, Premier League and Sport England likely to be withdrawn unless the first team are promoted back to the Football League this season.

Explaining his decision to step down from the board, Kilby said: "There's about three times more work with the Youth Development Fund this year and a lot more pressure to make sure it's successful as the Centre of Excellence is now dependent on it.

"We are hoping to raise £30,000 this year and are on track. The recent York City v Manchester United DVD raised more than £3,000.

"The money is needed to cover the cost of kit, referees, travel, coaching equipment, first-aid, physio and hire of training facilities for our youngsters up to the age of 16. Being a Trust board member is also very demanding and I have my own business Fastpack as well."

The election pack, including candidate statements, will be distributed to the Trust's 1,200 members in ten days' time.

A postal ballot will then take place ahead of the Trust's annual general meeting on December 15.

The dealine has now past for Main Stand and Family Stand season-ticket holders to claim their reserved places for Saturday's FA Cup first round home tie against Conference leaders Grays Athletic.

The match is not an all-ticket clash and fans in the David Longhurst and Popular Stands can pay on the day.
