CONTINUING the ongoing saga of parking charges in York, I recently parked in Piccadilly car park.
I inserted a £1 coin, a 50p and a 20p into the ticket machine but it only registered £1.20.
When I used the cancel button only £1.20 was returned. I tried again with another 50p and the same thing happened.
This also happened to the gentleman behind me and the young lady behind him. The whole exercise took seven minutes.
Perhaps some mathematically-minded reader could work out how much hidden revenue City of York Council is making with its machines eating 50p coins.
The attendant on duty was unable to help.
