THE amateur rugby league fraternity has been saddened by the death of one of the game's longest serving members, former York RLC stand-off Jack Turner.

Bradford-based Turner was a highly-rated player with York until his career was ended by injury, after which he joined amateur club Victoria Rangers as coach. He was later elected to the Bradford League committee and was also a leading figure in the formation of the Pennine League as well as a founder of BARLA.
