WELL City of York Council has finally done it. It has turned York into Blackpool without the sea.

I refer to those gaudy, hideous colour lights, lighting up the Minster.

This is an historical building, a house of God, not funland on Blackpool's seafront.

Haven't York council got any idea of good taste whatsoever?

Yet again the city council is too busy chasing the tourists' pound rather than doing something for the long-forgotten council taxpayers of the city of York.

What next - slot machines and bingo in the Minster?
