EBOR'S Paul Armstrong has become the first York Phoenix Monday Darts League player to defeat Sun Inn's Chris Thompson in a singles match.

Thompson, undefeated for over four seasons, hit a 180 to close in 17, but Armstrong replied with a 20 and went on to take the decider and clinch the victory for Ebor.

Lee Brundrett sealed a last-game win against Cygnet 'A' for Acorn, who top the table. Keith Turner hit a 180 and an 18-darter. Cygnet had Chris Bullen with a 180 for 21.

Huntington were 3-1 down at Clifton before John Smith (180) gamed in 18 to level, then Nick Harteveld took the win with 21 and 17. Paul Cooper gamed in 20 and 21 to give Cygnet 'B' a 7-2 win against Acomb SC, who had Stu Morton out in 19.

Promoted Health Service Club lead division two after an 8-1 thrashing of Old Ebor, who had Mark Chamberlain out in 23. John Callard was HSC's best with 23 and 21.

Colin Gibson and Mick Harris (22) took the last two games as Angel and White Horse ran out 6-3 winners at Shepherd SC, while Falcon also took the last two for the same scoreline against Slipper.

Mitre had Kev O'Hara going out in 18 and 23 and Neil Long with 20 and a maximum in their 6-3 win against Britannia.

In division three an amazing pairs bull finish followed by a singles bull finish from Alan Graham inspired Phoenix to an 8-1 win at Flag 'B', who had Di Moreland with 21. Mick Szanto also closed on 113 for the visitors.

Despite a 21 and 180 from Alice Hawthorn's Adam Wise, Blacksmith's won 7-2 with Pete Davis gaming on bull for 21.

Paul Saville's 108 bull finish for Lord Nelson didn't stop Wenlock Arms 'B' winning 7-2, while a 22-darter from Ade Shaw stood out in Mount's 7-2 win over Sports Club.

Wenlock Arms 'A' have dropped out of division two.

Platt's the way for Cueball

Tina Platt closed 130 with treble 20, treble 20, double five as Cueball 'B' secured the York John Smith's Ladies Darts League division one title at Cygnet 'C'.

A two-dart 72 close from Tracey Farmeary and 70 from Angie Hields for 24 also stood out, while Carole Layne and Roz Kerr hit the tons for Cygnet.

Second-placed Slip 'B' were prevented from a full house by Independent's Wendy Shortle. Leeman 'B's Eileen White with 24 starred after Blacksmith's Bev Lawson had posted 24 before team-mates Pauline Welburn-Jackie Clemit sealed a last-gasp win.

Holgate's Anne Smith-Mitch Robertson did the same at Slip 'A's expense as did Flag's Sarah Jackson-Sharon Neads after some top scoring by Clifton 'A's Jo Hodges.

Division two leaders Cygnet 'B' were again pressed by Tang Hall WMC, whose Ann Barker starred before Tracy Billingham-Jeanette Craven secured the match.

Burnholme are keeping the pressure on as Sun 'A' suffered a total eclipse at the club, while Sun 'B' returned to form to beat an under-strength Severus 6-3.

Britannia have the division three title in the bag. Volunteer 'B' shot into second clearing up in the singles at Cueball 'A' who polished off the remaining legs. Volunteer 'A' did their 'B' team a favour as Emma Cooper-Donna Lynes sealed their win to halt Shepherd 'B's honours tilt.

There are still tickets left for finals night.

Leeman 'B' had Toni Smallwood game on 158 with treble 20, treble 20 and double 19 for 21 darts at Cygnet 'D' in the York John Smith's Mixed League.

Cygnet 'A's Kev Walton was out in 17 against their 'B' team, whose Ali Wray hit a maximum. Martin Waddington (Leeman 'B') scored 125, 121 in going out in 19, as did Beeswing's Jim Hawksby against Cueball.
