HUBY'S heroes in their penalty shoot-out victory over Riccall United in the York RF Saturday Junior Cup were Joe Wilford and Arthur Broadbent.

The scores were level at 3-3 after extra time and the match was decided by penalties. Goalkeeper Wilford saved with the score at nine penalties each and Broadbent then stepped up to score the winning spot-kick.

Coxwold ensured that the Beckett League maintained interest in the competition by beating Easingwold Town Reserves 3-2.

Last season's beaten finalists Sheriff Hutton strolled through 11-2 against Osbaldwick with Kevin Butler and Darren Brandon both scoring hat-tricks.

Tim Rye's penalty gave Heworth the lead against LNER Builders but the works team hit back to win with goals from Gareth Watkinson and Steve Crosby.

Goals by Dave Bonner and Ben Storey gave Wigginton Grasshoppers a 2-0 victory over St Clements. Darren Sellars (2), Dan Morrison and Leigh Dutton earned York RI a 4-1 win against Norton United.

Aaron Tiplady's double gave Thorpe United Reserves a 2-1 extra time win against Poppleton United who had opened the scoring after 50 minutes. Tiplady headed in the equaliser to take the game into extra time in which he netted the winner.

Darren Walker showed his class with two goals as Old Malton Reserves beat Pocklington Reserves 3-1. Tom Oxtoby scored the other Old Malton goal.

A header from captain Ricky Hunter gave Rawcliffe a 3-2 win over Slingsby, Dave Stoner having earlier scored twice for Rawcliffe.

Chris Sparkes scored a superb hat-trick for Poppleton Rovers Reserves in their 6-3 win over Fulford United Reserves - two of his goals being struck from 25 yards.

Tadcaster Albion, many people's favourites for the cup, defeated Hemingbrough Reserves 5-1 with goals from Rob Ellis (2), Rafeal Wong, Danny Phillips and Darren Wilson.
