MRS Seavers was wrong to agree that the York lights are terrible (October 21).
The York lights are lovely and do not just "blend in" with the street lights. Coloured lights can be tacky and would not suit the look of the city.
The lights we have now are subtle and complement the Minster and older buildings very well. Coloured lights would overpower the character of the buildings and city.
When the lights are turned on every year, it marks the start of Christmas. Why start it with something vulgar and garish, start it with something bright, white, light and right.
