ONCE again I read that a number of police officers have been awarded a commendation for doing their jobs (October 5).
I understood that the police were employed to catch criminals.
The report of the incident which you related had the police merely stopping a van with six people in it and arresting them. For that they were awarded a commendation.
Am I to assume in future that no policeman or woman will do any arresting unless they are promised something in return?
Pictures of Dastardly and his sidekick Muttley spring to mind.
And who pays for these commendation certificates or medals or whatever? Yes, Joe Public!
