WANDERERS went top of division four of the York John Smith's Sunday Morning Football League, coming back from 2-0 down to defeat Rumours 7-3 with goals from Gary Newton (3), Matt Hartas (2), Glen Turner and Darren Brandon.

Howells and Olliver were among the goals for Rumours.

Thomas's Hotel lost top spot after losing their second consecutive match. This time they went down 4-2 to CPP, whose goals game from Owen (2), Firat Dogan and Tom Bennington. Rudy Dear and Cliff Baxter were on target for Thomas's.

Cueball Fulford Reserves secured a resounding 6-2 win against Castle Howard Ox, the highlight being an Oliver Barrett hat-trick with supporting scoring roles for Ben Wilson, Dave Turley, and Chris Long.

The Selby derby between Real Way Station and Gipsy Moth ended 2-2. Oxtoby and Sheldon were on target for Moth with Kuyawa and Littlewood responding for Station.

Carlton Tavern's woeful start to their season continued as they slumped to a 4-0 defeat to visitors Selby Griffin. Jonathan Pickersgill (2), Dale Ranby and Andy Harris were Griffin's marksmen.

In division five, Acorn slammed Poppleton Road WMC 9-1 at Huby. A five-goal raid by Palmer was the highlight, with a hat-trick for Bell and an own goal completing the rout.

Acomb Rangers stayed top of the division on goal difference after their 5-1 demolition of FC Barlby thanks to goals by Stockdale (2), Dutton, Elliker and Haigh.

Hot on the heels of Acomb are New Earswick who had to overcome a stubborn Forest FC before running out winners 3-1. Goals from Thompson, Lindsey and Musgrave were enough for victory. Dave Carrington netted for Forest.

Raskelf Rovers piled on more misery on Pocklington Rangers, who have yet to register a point, with a 7-2 win. Raskelf's goals came from Andy Metcalfe (4), James Metcalfe, Gary Goodwin and Paul Bell. Coxall netted twice for Pock.
