ON the subject of odd expressions - "The company did not have sufficiently robust control procedures in place" - from the Science Park swindle report (September 15).
You can bet we would not have got away with such a daft statement at Tadcaster - home to three large breweries and plain speaking! We call a spade a spade.
Where I live, robust is a word that is normally used to describe a state of health, not accounting procedures of any kind whether in the private sector or in the public sector.
