CITY of York Ladies lost 3-0 at home to Lancashire side Springfields in their second North League game of the season.

The damage was done in the first half, all three of the visitors' goals coming before the break.

York rallied in the second period and, with Amelia Smalley causing problems for the Springfield defence, a goalpost and the visiting 'keeper prevented Kate Rorrison, Pam Rowbottom and Sally Sleightholme finding the net.

In a roller-coaster game in division one of the Yorkshire League, City of York Ladies II opened the scoring through Sue Draper at Bingley Bees, who then hit back to take a 3-1 lead.

Vicky Burden, who had a fine game, pulled the half-time score back to 3-2 before Anna Ramli equalised for York early in the second half.

But York were edged out as Bingley made it 4-3 in the final minutes of the game.

City of York Ladies III and IV both feature in Yorkshire League division four this season and, playing each other, the more youthful fourths came out on top winning 2-0 in a closely fought game. Karen Llewellyn scored from the penalty spot in the first half, Laura Horne adding the second with a solo run late on.

Acomb Ladies I lost their unbeaten run that stretched back to November 2004 when went down by the only goal against Halifax I in Yorkshire League division one at Oaklands.

Chances were there to be had but the visitors converted one of theirs just before the break from open play. Despite the best efforts of player of the match Rachel Linfoot, Acomb could not get an equaliser.

Acomb Ladies II lost 4-0 at Halifax IV despite the efforts of their best player Alison Benson.
