WE keep hearing and reading negative comments about recycling. It's about time we did recycle household waste, rather than bury it in the ground.
The problem is City of York Council has not put in place enough provisions for the collection of waste. They seem to have missed out plastic containers, bottles, cartons etc. We have containers for green waste, paper, glass, tin and other household waste. I bet eight out ten people, put plastic in their wheelie bin.
My nearest recycle bank for plastic is Beckfield Lane or Tesco. I have a car, but many people don't have transport, so recyclable waste goes in the wheelie bin. The council should make provisions for a kerbside collection of plastic.
I get a great sense of achievement when collection day comes and I put out the tubs of glass and tins and paper, knowing I am helping the environment.
