YORK City defender Chris Brass has gone to Conference North side Harrogate Town on loan for one month.

Former player-manager Brass, who has struggled with injury since Christmas, made the switch yesterday afternoon and was likely to be in Town's side when Neil Aspin's men face Worcester City in Conference North at Wetherby Road today.

City boss Billy McEwan said: "The loan spell at Harrogate Town will be a stiffer test for Chris Brass than reserve team football which is mainly dominated by young players. It will be a more competitive and challenging environment for him.

"He's got to try to get himself fit to get a club. From that point of view, we are trying to help him out."

McEwan revealed last month that Brass has no place in his future plans even when fit and he is hopeful the temporary arrangement will draw potential transfer offers from other clubs to free up the wage bill.

Town will contribute to the 30-year-old's wages during the spell.

Brass, who suffered a nasty cruciate ligament injury just weeks after losing his role as player-manager, will be joining ex-team mates Lee Nogan and Leigh Wood at Harrogate at a time when defenders Richard Dunning, Paul Stoneman and Wood are injured.
