IT has been all change at Selby RUFC with a new captain and coaching set-up installed for the Yorkshire One season.

Steve Cruise, John Webster and Ian Marlow have taken responsibility for coaching after Diccon Edwards was installed as boss at North East Two club Sheffield.

Cruise was involved in coaching the Sandhill Lane side in the 2000-01 season when they had one of their most successful campaigns in recent years, finishing second in Yorkshire One, reaching the semi-final of the Yorkshire Cup and making progress in the Tetley Bitter Cup.

Toby Pemberton (pictured below) takes over the captain's role from Andrew Pocklington with back-row forward Wright Phillips installed as his vice-captain.

New signings include Kiwi prop Richard Fuller from Wellington and Paul Verity, a centre from Yarnbury.

Centre Andy Bennett and forward Matthew Mills will be looking to be more involved after making only 12 starts between them last season.

But influential forward Jason Cicero will be out for the first couple of months after having eye surgery.

Selby, who have appointed Nina Lea as physiotherapist, start their league campaign tomorrow at home to Keighley.

The Sandhill Laners also face Pontefract on October 17 in the Powergen Intermediate Cup and entertain Pocklington in the Yorkshire Shield on November 5.
