Hunters the estate agent York and District Senior League division five leaders Dunnington made sure of promotion by drawing a game against Stamford Bridge which saw them almost lose their unbeaten record.

Bridge's Martin Veysey made 56 and Ian Frazer 31, but a fine spell by youngster John Rossington, who took 6-72, had the Bridge all out for 163.

When Dunnington replied, Joe Butcher made 32, but the eye-catching performance came from Stamford junior Dan Craven, who bowled exceptionally well to take 4-48 in 13 overs, six of them maidens, to have Dunnington reeling at 85-7.

Huntington were knocked out for only 78 when they entertained Cawood at North Moor Road. Darren Willis was the sole home batsman to show a measure of form, making 28 as Simon Hall took 4-38. Mick Storey then claimed 3-37, but Stu Baxter and Carl Blundell each made 26 in Cawood's 79-3.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge were able to fulfil both their fixtures despite having their first team squad of 14 players unavailable because of yesterday's National Village Final at Lord's.

Seven-year-old Matthew Fisher became the youngest player in the history of the league as he lined up alongside his father Phil in a potpourri style team. And he would have had two runs to his credit but for his partner being guilty of a short run.

The scratch Bridge side were dismissed for 76 by Dick Sawyer (4-21) and Steve Mudd (4-39) but were full of praise for their understanding hosts.

Londesbrough gave opening opportunities to two of their own youngsters and 15-year-old Steve Dawson made 24 not out and 14-year-old Mike Drewery 26 as their side reached 77-2. Fisher got the chance to bowl and his one over was a maiden.
