COPMANTHORPE'S flying start to the York Leeper Hare League season ended with a single-goal defeat at Haxby United.

The visitors went into the match boasting a 100 per cent record from their opening two fixtures but Mark Scoreby earned Haxby maximum points five minutes before half-time.

Unlucky Kartiers have lost their first three games by the odd goal with Dean Wood's penalty midway through the second half giving Thorpe United a 1-0 triumph.

Champions Dringhouses beat newly-promoted Nestl Rowntree 3-0 with Lee Bond bagging a brace - including one penalty - and Shane Laverick adding a header.

Joe Garnham, Chris Marris and Ron White were the marksmen as Bishopthorpe won 3-1 at Dunnington, who replied through Chris Burgess.

St John's College defeated Pocklington by the same margin with Mike Craig (2) and Michael Fireck on target. Joe Barker got Pock's consolation.
