ALTHOUGH I believe the work done by the Arc Light Centre is valuable, I find it hard to believe that anyone is considering moving the centre to Clifton.

I have lived in Clifton for nearly three years, and in that time have witnessed various forms of anti-social behaviour and even watched dealers sell drugs on my driveway.

Clifton is the wrong place for this centre. Why can't it be placed in other areas of the city where there are fewer problems? Why does everything have to come to Clifton, Tang Hall and Acomb? These areas already have bad publicity and don't need any more.

The Clifton Residents Association is working hard and making progress on rebuilding the community. However, there is still a lot to be done and I believe bringing the Arc Light Centre to this area would have a detrimental affect on its achievements so far.

It's not that we aren't sympathetic and don't want to give these people a chance, it's that Clifton is the wrong place with enough issues to deal with already. Maybe in years to come it could be the right place for this type of centre but not at the moment, we need more time to rebuild this community.
