Playful Dane, one of only a handful of horses trained at Yarm in Cleveland by former jump jockey Scott Cunningham, can show his rivals a clean pair of heels at Musselburgh tomorrow.

The eight-year-old lines up for the £15,000 betfair.com Handicap over five furlongs and will have Danny Tudhope, the smart apprentice, who is attached to Declan Carroll's Warthill stable, in the saddle.

Tudhope, who is riding plenty of winners at present, was aboard Playful Dane when he made all the running at Carlisle last week to beat Harry Up by a cosy length and a half.

The downside of that success is a 6lb penalty, but Playful Dane is clearly in great heart and he is fancied to oblige again.

The £10,000 Stewarts Turf Nursery is also over five furlongs and Bridal Path, another recent winner, catches the eye.

Sir Mark Prescott's filly took time for the penny to drop this season, but she came good in pleasing fashion at Chepstow on her latest start and may now be starting something of a roll. She does not look overburdened here and will surely make a bold bid to follow up under Jean-Pierre Guillambert.

Although he lost his right to claim an allowance several months ago, Norton-based Tom Eaves, having started the season as an apprentice, will continue to be one until the end of the term, which is why he is eligible to ride in tomorrow's Merchiston Bowling Club Apprentices' Handicap.

Eaves may well win it, too. He teams up with nap selection Chaka Zula, winner of two of his last three starts and a horse in rude health at present.

The Quick Address Selling Stakes will not take much winning and Paul Midgely's Dispol Shabama, successful in a similar race at Catterick in mid-summer, could take some catching under Malton jockey Dean Mernagh.

Son Of Thunder seems to reserve his best displays for Musselburgh and Michael Dods' gelding returns to his favourite course to tackle the Ladies' Day 10th September Handicap. He will receive every assistance from Tony Culhane.

At Lingfield, Doohulla should not be overlooked in the Vodafone Summer Of Sport Handicap.

The four-year-old has been running well this summer and has the added advantage of being a previous winner on this course.

Doohulla, trained by Gerard Butler, will be partnered by Darryl Holland, who looks sure to get a good ride from his top-weighted mount.

The promising Time For Life (3.50) and Globalized (5.20), who ran well last time out, are two others to note at the Surrey course.
