AT the very last minute, even as the Ryedale Festival programme book was going to print, Duo di Bassi had to cancel their performance at Botton on July 29, because of a repetitive strain injury to double bass player Jiri Hudec.
The Wihan Quartet will fill their place in the 8pm concert at the Botton Village Community Centre, with a programme of Hugo Wolf's Italian Serenade, Giacomo Puccini's Crisantemi, Joseph Haydn's String Quartet in C major (Opus 54 No 2) and Antonon Dvorak's String Quartet No 11 in C major (Opus 61).
Festival chairman Peter O'Malley says: "We were very fortunate to replace Duo di Bassi within 24 hours with the Wihan Quartet, who had played in last year's festival."
