Yorkshire-based and family run Chippindale Egg Producers and Packers boast a 50-year history in the poultry industry at Kingsley Farm, Harrogate.

Having recently launched a new RSPCA Freedom Food line and employing uncompromising quality control, this local company is ready to put itself on the map as a serious player within the UK food industry.

Chippindale Egg Producers and Packers is jointly run by Nick Chippindale and his father, Ian. The company is recognised throughout Yorkshire as very much a local firm. Nick and Ian both feel it is time to take Chippindale to a wider market but not at the expense of the heritage and family values.

Chippindale's fundamental aim is to produce and pack eggs competitively in the best conditions while employing the highest standard of hygiene and welfare.

Part of the company's strategy for the future is to relaunch its free range brand.

The new produce is RSPCA Freedom Food approved which means that the eggs are produced by laying hens that are kept free from fear, distress, pain, hunger, thirst and discomfort and have the freedom to express normal behaviour.

The new product includes on-pack information about Freedom Food for consumers, plus a special information pack for retailers.

Most of the eggs packed at Chippindale are supplied by selected local free range producers, all of whom are Freedom Food approved.

So far, the company has converted around 30 per cent of its throughput to Barn and Free Range Freedom Food approved eggs.

This, along with new quality control procedures, means that Chippindale offers high quality produce which combines an emphasis on traceability with strict adherence to welfare laws.
