by Stuart MartelThe test is yet to come for York Rugby League Club's summit seekers.

So maintained coach Dean Robinson despite the Wasps' registering a rare away win over Doncaster Dragons.

The Wasps boss saw his side beat the Dragons 30-16 at Belle Vue last night - only their second away win since he took over in December 1996.

But Robinson warned his men will face sterner opposition in their quest for promotion from the second division this season.

"It was a scrappy game but we are happy to go away with a fairly convincing victory. We started very poorly and were 12 points down before we started to play, and against a good side we would have never got back," said the coach.

"That is no disrespect to Doncaster but there are stronger sides waiting for us around the corner. We shook it up and, other than standing watching a high kick in the second half, we closed them down.

"But we have given possession away all evening and not controlled the football. If you are not controlling it and defending it all the time, something has got to give no matter who you play against."

Robinson added that York may have experienced fall-out from their stunning performance against Leeds Rhinos last Friday.

"Some of them are beginning to believe their own raps and trying to score every set of six. The end result is we are not completing sets of six and giving them too much ball," he said.

"But, regardless of the score, if you play badly and win you are not doing too bad. We have dug in and if this is a sign of things to come I am happy. We have got more up our sleeve than we showed last night.

"I had to try various players, this was the last time to look at different things and it did break the rhythm. To look at those players was more important than the result. I want to give everybody a fair crack of the whip."

Forward Craig Booth has been ruled out of the Wasps second division opener against Bramley at Huntington Stadium on Friday, April 10 after picking up a two match ban.

Booth was sent off for fighting just seconds from the final hooter in the friendly with Leeds Rhinos and will miss next Thursday's Stewart Horton Testimonial and the Bramley clash.

However, Leeds prop Barrie McDermott will miss almost a quarter of the Super League season after the RFL hit him with a five match ban, one for a dangerous tackle which was placed on report and four for his involvement in the Booth fracas.
