Sure-shot 'Marco Goalo' has been cited as 'Marco Coalo' to set alight York City's run-in to the season.

Striker Marco Gabbiadini returns to the City attack for the visit of Blackpool tomorrow charged with igniting the reds' touch paper.

Gabbiadini has been missing for the last three games with an ankle ligament injury, but came through 45 minutes reserve action, coincidentally against Blackpool's second-string, in midweek.

City manager Alan Little said the 30-year-old striker might not last the full 90 minutes tomorrow. But, he insisted: "If we get Gabbiadini on fire for an hour that might well be good enough.

"He showed in the reserves' match and in training this week a zest to play, a desire to show what he can do again. If he repeats that against Blackpool I will be delighted."

Ironically in the week City sold their most flair-filled youngster Jonathan Greening to Manchester United the club have unveiled arguably their most attacking line-up this year.

Gabbiadini will be partnered in a front three by 16-goal Rodney Rowe and Gary Bull, the latter seen as the key to ushering in the advances of midfield powers Steve Bushell and Alan Pouton.

If the front three tires or fails to deliver then on the bench will be Neil Tolson and Richard Cresswell.

"It might well be that we need the aerial power of Tolson, who had a heavy game for the reserves, and the strength and pace of Cresswell later on. It's funny how now I've got all my main strikers to call upon," said the manager.

The rest of the City line-up remains unchanged, Martin reed again deputising for injured skipper Tony Barras at the heart of defence.

But there may be a change right at the back, where Little was pondering a recall in goal for Andy Warrington. "I just feel it might be time for a change.

"The main thing, however, is for us to win. The players have got a lot to play for besides pride. We need the points to cushion ourselves and then use them as a springboard to go on from here."

To improve an away record of just three wins on their travels Blackpool dipped into the transfer market for a deadline day double.

First they paid Fulham £50,000 for ex-Burnley striker Mike Conroy and then took 21-year-old Scott Taylor on loan from Premiership strugglers Bolton.

Now aged 32, Glasgow-born Conroy has notched close to a century of League goals since moving to England in 1991 for spells at Reading, Burnley, Preston and latterly Fulham.

He was top scorer for the Cottagers in their promotion season last term, but has since been squeezed out by the mega-spending spree of Kevin Keegan and Ray Wilkins.

York City's gutsy Northern Intermediate League side take their six-week unbeaten run to Rotherham United tomorrow before entertaining Doncaster Rovers at Bootham Crescent on Monday. Both games kick-off at 11am.
