David Warner on Yorkshire Cricket

Yorkshire are looking to thrash Durham for a second time in the Benson and Hedges Cup at Headingley after drawing them out of the hat today for the quarter-finals on Wednesday, May 27, writes David Warner.

The pairings could not have been kinder on Yorkshire who on Saturday won the right for a home tie by thrashing injury-hit Durham by eight wickets in a totally one-sided contest.

But although expressing delight at the draw, Yorkshire skipper David Byas today warned his team against complacency and even hinted that he would have preferred to take on a stronger side at Headingley for a place in the semi-finals.

"On paper, we could not have had an easier match than Durham but all teams in the last eight have to be respected and if we are too casual we will throw it away," he said.

"I will remind the lads that we had an easy win over Worcestershire in the group stages of the B&H Cup at Headingley in 1995 but then in the quarter finals on the same ground they hammered us by seven wickets.

"I would not have complained had we been drawn against any of the three other sides because we feel confident we can beat anyone at Headingley when we play to the best of our ability and this would have been one way of getting rid of a more fancied team before the semi-finals."

Durham's injured trio of skipper David Boon, John Morris and Jon Lewis are doubtful for the quarter-final.
