The basic problem with Nato is that it is run by old men in the Pentagon with a cold war mentality.

I believe there is a practical solution for Kosovo, which is to ask Russia to put in peace-keeping troops.

It is hardly likely, as one of the former great powers, that Russia would allow the ethnic cleansing to go on.

This has the advantage that Russia is seen as a Serb ally, and would therefore enter unopposed.

This was the solution that Nato ignored when it rushed into the ill thought out bombing. Since Russians are volunteering for Serbia, there could be the deadly possibility that Nato troops could end up fighting the Russians, and who knows where that scenario could end.

We have to trust Russia on this and involve them, not as we are doing, ignore them. The next time Tony Blair appears on TV to tell us he is doing the "right thing" he should be asked why Nato has ignored the Russian contribution. We need to cooperate with them, not shun them. Only then can a solution be found.
