York City have banked another cash windfall from the 'loss' of talent.

Less than a week after netting close on £1million from Sheffield Wednesday for 19-goal top scorer Richard Cresswell, City have reached an agreement with Sheffield United over the recruitment of midfield prospect Curtis Woodhouse to the First Division outfit.

Midfielder Woodhouse was two years at City's centre of excellence early in his teenage years only then to be snapped up by Sheffield United in a loophole.

Disgruntled City netted an initial £2,200 compensation for 18-year-old Woodhouse, who has since progressed to the England under-18 squad.

A regular in the Sheffield side, he was recently valued at £3million with Premiership champions Arsenal rumoured to be interested in the midfielder after their controversial FA Cup encounter.

In a bid to recoup more money in recompense for the time devoted to Woodhouse, City enlisted the help of the Football League.

A panel to hear an appeal was fixed for the end of February only to be then postponed at United's request. Now both clubs have settled on a cash deal without recourse to the League.

City have been paid a further £15,000. They also have a sell-on of five percent on the Driffield-born midfielder, who recently signed a new four-year deal with the Blades.

Meanwhile, City are still waiting to hear from the FA over the date at which midfielder Mark Tinkler will have to appear before a disciplinary hearing.

Tinkler, who has still one more game to serve of a three-match ban, has been sent-off three times and cautioned 11 times this season.Another of City's promising players, 16-year-old goalkeeper Russell Howarth, was hoping to add to his debut England cap in the under-16 friendly against Turkey at Leyton Orient tonight.

Howarth made his debut for England two months ago in a friendly against Turkey in Izmir, England winning 2-0.Sheffield United have agreed to pay York City an additional £15,000 for 18-year-old midfielder Curtis Woodhouse. The Minstermen will also get a percentage of any sell-on fee for the highly-rated youngster.
