Artis, the charity that cares for wild animal and small pets, are appealing to people to think twice before buying a small animal as a pet. We are asked to take in so many animals which were once loved as babies. Rabbits, in particular are bought as cute baby bunnies, fussed over and spoilt until the novelty wears off, and then either forgotten about to the point of neglect or simply dumped on the road side.
The Artis Sanctuary, a registered charity since June 1998, cares for many wild animals and birds, as well as taking in unwanted pets. Most of the wild creatures are released as soon as they are fit enough.
