The annual charity game between York Rugby Union Football Club and York Acorn Rugby League Club takes place on Sunday.

One half of the game, played at Clifton Park, York, will be played under union rules and the other under league rules.

This year's match, kicking-off at 1pm, will raise money for two charities; the Hollie Byrnes Trust Appeal raising money for a powered wheelchair, and the St Anne's Shelter and Housing Action Group.

Hollie attends Woodthorpe School and suffers from a disease which renders all limb joints disabled. The powered wheelchair will enable Hollie to become more independent.

St Anne's provides a wide range of housing, day care and support to homeless people and those with special needs, including those with learning disabilities, mental health and alcohol problems.

York RUFC Under-9s and their Acorn counterparts will also play a game of mixed codes, kicking off at 12.15pm.

This will be the fourth game between the two clubs having raised more than £4,000 for local charities so far.
