Drugs have permeated every level of society. A North Yorkshire school cleaner sold cannabis to pupils, a court was told yesterday.

In another case, a York drugs smuggler was jailed for importing £158,000 of the same drug.

Meanwhile, sports internationals, pop stars and even a Blue Peter presenter are revealed to be drug users.

This is hardly a good example for impressionable youngsters.

Anti-drugs tsar Keith Hellawell, who today set tough new targets to cut drug use, knows he faces a huge task.

He needs all our support.

We must not give up in the war against drugs.
