A North Yorkshire pet is no longer a fat cat after proving she is the purrfect moggy when it comes to slimming.

AFTER: Superslimmer Nina, with owner Helen Bradley, has shed over a kilo since going on her diet.

Nina the formerly fat feline, who lives with her owner Helen Bradley in Burton Leonard, near Harrogate, shed over a kilogram - more than a fifth of her body weight - in only six months.

And Nina missed out by a whisker on winning the regional final of the 1999 Hill's Pet Slimmer of the Year competition.

She is still on her diet and still losing the pounds.

Helen said: "We got her from the Cats' Protection League in Thirsk three years ago and they thought she was about one year old then.

"I have been taking her to a vet's surgery in Ripon to keep up her condition. They said she was overweight and I needed to regulate her food so she went on a diet.

"I think she was over five kilos, now she's about four. She's still big but now we only feed her when she asks."
