Naming a beer after the Minster is such crass commercialism that it smacks of something that would be done here in the States. (There's an insult which no self-respecting Brit should put up with.)
Maybe the Minster can't fight back, but civic-minded and religious-minded citizens of good taste can. Simply boycott all products of York Brewery and it will quickly come to its senses.
