The managers of the York City Boys teams will be holding final trials on the All Saints' field, Simbalk Lane, on Thursday, September 9, at 4.15pm.

All age groups are expected to be there - U12s, U13s, U14s and U15s. Any help with Selection would be much appreciated.

The York & District Schools' FA is running five City Boys' teams next season - U11s, U12s, U13s, U14s and U15s and the final squads will be announced before the end of September. The U11s trials will be held separately.

Results of the All League and Cup games, including semi-finals and finals, must reach the local secretary, Peter Wilmott, 217 Beckfield Lane, Acomb, York YO26 5PH (tel 01904 791416) immediately after a game has been played.

Both teams should send in the result, names of scorers with first names, and a short match report. Names of scorers of hat-tricks should be sent in so that an up-to-date list can be kept.

An accident report, obtainable from either secretary, must be filled in and returned immediately after any accident which occurs during an inter-school game.

Basketball

Entry forms for the Schools' Basketball Leagues will be in all secondary schools by mid-September. They must be completed and returned to Wayne Isherwood at Sherburn High School as soon as possible.

Orienteering

Orienteering courses for teachers will be held at the East Barnby Outdoor Education Centre, East Barnby, Whitby over the weekend of November 12-14. There are three courses taking place, depending on experience.

Rugby League

The York & District Schools U16 Rugby League team was starting training today for the new season which starts next month.

The first meeting for Year 10 and Year 11 boys was being held at Acorn Rugby League Club today.

The team will be coached by Barry Gargan (Acorn) assisted by former York and Barrow player Dean Thomas and managed by David Milburn of Barlby High School.

York, who will play in Division Two of the NAS/UWT British and Irish Schools' League, will play matches against Scarborough, Featherstone, Doncaster, Sheffield, Barrow, Allerdale, Blackpool and Gateshead.
