I read with trepidation (Evening Press, September 6) that City of York Council's Housing Services committee is planning a multi-million pound spend on housing and maintenance to take us into the Millennium.
My first thoughts were, where is this money coming from, when will my council tax go up and by how much?
Council taxpayers fund these resolutions, but only get to know of the decisions when it is too late. Is there no way the committee can publish the ideas in their embryonic stages so we can have a role in the decision making?
I hope council members who read this will realise we would like to know beforehand of such a proposal for an extremely large expenditure.
