Dave Lancaster is celebrating hat-trick of running raids north of the border.

The Nestl Rowntree veteran proved age is no barrier by winning the Moray People's Marathon for the third time.

His time of 2hr 46mins was below his personal best of 2.24 run set some years ago in the London Marathon.

But Lancaster said he was just delighted to have finished ahead of a field made up of predominantly younger runners.

"It wasn't a fantastic time but I am 42 now and had to run on my own," he said. "At 42 I was doubtful I could win it again and we will just have to see how it goes next year.

"Most races I can cope with by marathons always get me worried because I like to push myself to the limit."

Lancaster's previous successes at Moray came in 1993 and 1994. He has also claimed third place in the past. Last year, he competed in the half-marathon as he made his way back from injury and finished fifth.
