Daredevil fundraisers defied fear to ride Britain's biggest roller coasters - 29 times.

The excitement overload saw a team of six travel across the region's theme parks to raise cash for the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust and Macmillan Cancer Relief.

And it earned the team of employees of Sun Microsystems the world record for the greatest number of roller coaster rides in 24 hours.

Team leader Gary Rumney said: "We finished in Blackpool at about 10pm last night and we are feeling very bruised and battered now, but it was worth it."

It is hoped about £4,000 was raised for both charities.

The task saw them race across the region to experience rides at Flamingo Land and Lightwater Valley.

The team, made up of company employees from throughout the country, were accompanied by a Guinness Book of Records diarist to officially register their attempt.

After their white knuckle North Yorkshire experiences the team set off to conquer theme parks including Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Alton Towers.
