I have been asked by the Cyclists' Touring Club's local committee to respond to a recent letter about insurance benefits for cyclists who join a club associated with Bicycle Magazine, an excellent publication launched several months ago.

The CTC also offers its members - currently 80,000 nationally - free legal aid for victims of injury while riding, and free third party cover should the cyclist be the unwitting cause of injury.

Discount theft and damage cover is available for the vast range of bikes used by members.

Added to touring and technical assistance, a regular free colour magazine, lobbying representation from parliament downwards, country-wide discounts and the friendship of local CTC groups, one gets a good deal for a modest annual subscription. For details visit: www.ctc.org.uk

We wish the Bicycle Club well in its venture and hope it will also find an appropriate niche in the national cycling scene.
