Nearly everyone knows someone who has suffered a stroke. Now there's a chance to do something to help.
The Stroke Association provides practical help and emotional support to rebuild lives. This year the association is marking its centenary and is appealing to those with a place in the Great North Run to raise money to help the charity continue its vital work.
Stroke is the single biggest cause of death and disability in this country and a major problem in this region.
