Iron-Man Colin Hawxby from York will represent Great Britain in the World Duathlon Championships in the United States next month.
Hawxby, 31, only took up the gruelling sport, which combines cycling and running, recently, but has made an immediate impact on the national scene.
Hawxby, of Amberly Street, Poppleton Road, will be part of the GB team in action at Huntersville, North Carolina, on October 16-17.
The super-fit athlete will compete in the shorter race in America which involves a 10k run, 42k cycle ride and 5k run in the 30 to 39 age group category.
A former member of York-based Clifton Cycling Club, Hawxby, he was a fine time-trial performer before making his mark in cyclo-cross with Bradford Olympic.
Earlier this year Hawxby won a bronze medal in the Credit Suisse Powerman event in Guernsey.
