York City Baths Club swimmers Lewis Porylo and Tom Southam have been selected to represent Yorkshire in the Inter-County Competition on October 17 after good performances at the National Age Group Championships.
Porylo was second in the Under-13 100m breaststroke.
And Southam, Porylo and Steven Emmerson have been selected to represent Division 3 (Yorkshire and Humberside region) in the English Schools Nationals at Gateshead on October 22 and 23 as a result of their performances at the English Schools Division 3 Trials last month.
Meanwhile, a team represented Tadcaster at the Teaspoon gala held at the Ponds Forge pool in Sheffield.
Three finalist positions, four reserve finalists and a bronze medal were achieved, and 53 personal best times, even though the squad is in intensive training in preparation for the Winter Yorkshire Championships and the North Eastern Counties Championships.
Andrew Cowan gained a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke despite swimming under par.
Improving all-rounder Charlotte Black gained a finalist position in the 50m breaststroke with a three-second improvement.
Natalie Saunders, returning to fitness, gained a finalist position in the 50m butterfly and a reserve for the 50m.
Greg Scullion, although swimming against some 11-year-olds, narrowly missed a finalist position in the 50m backstroke and looked very strong in the butterfly.
Naomi Saunders, returning to competition, gaining two reserve finalists positions. Ben Ibbotson showed great improvement both technically and in speed in the 50m butterfly.
Other good swims were also achieved by: Naomi Boynton, Eve Ibbotson, Polly Gardonyi, Rachel Poynter, Felicity Prior, Jennifer Ibbotson, Amy Costello, Stef Poynter, Amy Davies, Jonathan Briggs, and Carl Johnson.
Swimmers from Tadcaster Swim Squad competed against the best in the country, which included Olympians, in the Darlington Annual Open.
Three swimmers narrowly missing national qualifying times were Peter Webster, Amy Claydon and Charlotte Black.
Greg Scullion gained fourth places in the 10yrs 50m backstroke and Individual Medley as well as a reserved finalist position in the butterfly.
Other good performances were achieved by Stuart Prior, Felicity Prior, Tom Davies, Laura Dryden, Naomi Saunders and Laura Lindsay.
