Everyone can empathise with the shock felt by Rod and Kerry Cruckshank of Wilberfoss. They had saved hard for their Spanish summer holiday and arrived at the airport to discover their tickets were missing.
The transaction was only confirmed after frantic phone calls to the new Going Places' HolidayWorld store in York. Even then, the Cruckshanks lost a day's holiday and had to return to a different airport.
To be fair, Going Places deserves credit for its fulsome apology. It is now discussing compensation. A free holiday would seem the most appropriate remedy for such an unfortunate mix-up.
