A fundraising stalwart beat her own ten-year record when she brought in a magnificent £1,100 for our Hospice 2000 Appeal.
Phyllis Richardson, of Catton Park, Wilberfoss, has been organising October coffee mornings to help St Leonard's Hospice for the last decade.
Her husband, Tony, died of cancer in October 1989, and the following year she decided to organise a fundraising event on the anniversary of his death.
Mr Richardson was a well- known bridge player in the York and Pocklington bridge clubs and had farmed at Catton Park all his life.
Mrs Richardson sends out invitations before the events and organises a cake stall, raffle, antique linen stall and a bring-and-buy sale.
More than 90 people went to the record coffee morning at Catton Park on October 6, and those unable to attend sent donations.
Afterwards helpers were rewarded with a ploughman's lunch and bucks fizz.
Mrs Richardson said: "I had some fantastic helpers."
