York are still hunting their first Thwaites Nort East League Division One away win of the season following a disappointing 15-12 defeat at Keighley.

It was Keighley's first win of the season and was enough to lift them off the bottom of the table while York remain in mid-table.

A second half penalty by Gary Davy proved the difference between the two sides although York had the better of things after the interval.

York started brightly and were rewarded by tries from winger Michael Wright and prop Mike Cartwright with Steve Bullogh adding a conversion.

But Keighley responded with tries from scrum-half James Kubran and Davy, who also added a conversion.

Also in North East Division One, Goole beat visitors, Old Crossleyans 31-19 after recovering from being 19-10 down at half time.

Pocklington started the second half brightly and twice came close from good attacks, before Pearce extended the lead with another penalty. Straight away Pocklington pressed on the right and from a line-out catch and drive No 8 Jason Nicholson burrowed over. Again Wheatley Hills replied with a well taken try, but Pocklington pressed strongly once more before Pearce popped over a drop goal.

Pocklington ended the game in the driving seat and Pearce sealed his side's ninth consecutive win with another penalty.

Selby recorded their second win in North East Two with a 13-11 victory at home to Old Brodleians.

It was a good performance from Selby who had edged 10-6 ahead by half-time in what was a close enounter throughout.

Another Paterson penalty was all had Selby had to show for their second half efforts and they were left holding their breath when Old Brodleians scored a try on the wing in the final minute.

The conversion would have secured a draw for the visitors but their outside half was unable to find the target in the final kick of the game.

Harrogate were far from their best after a lacklustre Jewson's National League One 14-10 win over their visitors, Camberley on Saturday.
