York Wasps are confident of re-signing several players this week following an about-turn in the wage structure for the coming season.

The board have given coach Dean Robinson a slight increase in the wage bill and are also allowing him to make what he believes are appropriate offers to the players.

Initially the board had insisted that all players be offered the same contracts, which for many had had meant big reductions from last season.

After a meeting between the board and Robinson, it was agreed the coach should now come up with a new proposal which he will put to the board at a meeting tomorrow night.

Chief executive Ann Garvey said: "The main problem from Dean's point of view was the way we structured the wages.

"We've told Dean that he can have a slight increase and can issue it as he wishes. Dean has taken that away and is coming back to us on Tuesday. Providing the figures are okay that's what we'll do."

And she added: "There's never been a rift. There's been a difference of opinion as to how the structure's been. We're always willing to look at our faults and adjust if necessary and we think we've done that in this case."

Supporters are reminded that season tickets will only be available at their discounted price until Saturday. The discounted prices are: £98 adults seats (£108 full price), £60 pensioners seats (£72), £78 adults standing (£85), £40 pensioners standing (£48), £15 Junior Wasps.
