Joan Emmerson and Emma Andrews led the charge for Rowntree Ladies as their side won 6-3 away at Riverside in division one of the York Badminton League.

Emmerson and Andrews were on top of their game as they took three straight wins for 90-29.

University Students beat their University Staff team 5-4 in ladies division two.

Sue Cooper and Zoe Conway made the difference for the Students with three wins for 92-47. Sally Locker and Nicky Rolley took two Staff wins but lost 14-17 9-15 to Cooper and Conway.

IT Sports were too good for Students 'B', winning 8-1 in Men's Division One. Mark Hopwood and Chris Schofield top scored for the home side with three straight wins for 90-15. Simon Croall and Simon Taylor replied for the Students with a 7-15 17-15 15-5 over Saf Grey and Chris Swift.

Railway Institute Tuesday/Thursday 'B' visited YUSC in Men's Three and were good value for a 7-2 win. Dave Thompson and Ian Tucker were the pick of the Institute Pairs with three wins for 90-43, while Simon Fletcher and D Leeman took both YUSC points.

Selby Jubilee were in good Men's Three form as they visited Fulfordgate and won 7-2. Andy Hatfield and R Cannon topped the visitors averages with three straight wins for 90-55.

York RI were made to work hard for their 7-2 home win over Clifton 'B'.

Richard Murray and Joyce Petch steadied the RI ship with three wins for 90-21. R McGrory and L Ellis played well for Clifton, and were rewarded for their efforts with a 17-15 17-15 over N Williams and N Holder.

Clifton 'B' suffered a further reverse when they entertained Rowntrees 'A' and won 3-6.

Craig Dobson and Kath Watt took the vital maximum with three wins for 103-76. Gerry Screeton and Neil Hunter took two Clifton wins, but lost out 15-11 5-15 4-15 to Dobson and Watt.

Clifton 'B's third match saw them improve with a 5-4 home win over a strong Rowntrees 'B' team.

Neither team produced a pairing dominant enough to take all three points, so it was left for R McGrory and L Ellis to keep their nerve in the ninth rubber and score an 11 and three win over Mark Winfield and Helen Shepherd to clinch the win bonus points.

Millthorpe 'B' and Pocklington 'B' fought out a close Mixed Two encounter with the home team Millthorpe finally winning out 5-4.

Sam Watson and Anne Gray took three wins including the matchwinning ninth in which they beat John Emmerson and Jenny Todd 13 and 0.

Drax 'D' entertained local rivals Selby 77 'B' and went down 3-6 at Selby High School. Paul Frost and Lisa Ward topped the Selby averages with three wins for 90-32. A Wake and S Read took two Drax wins, but lost out 11 and five to Frost and Ward.

Drax 'D' hit back in their next match to score a 6-3 away win over Huntington 'B'. A Boyes and T Nicoline took three Drax wins for 86-66, whilst Jim Pratt and Carolyn Arden took two Huntington wins.

Selby Jubilee 'A' continued their good run with a 7-2 home win over Knavesmire 'B'. Andy Hatfield and Gill Soothill topscored with three wins for 103-61, including a tough 15-9 13-15 15-13 over John Major and Bev Thorpe.
