Queues and more queues

May I be the first to congratulate the City of York Council on a fantastic achievement. In just two weeks they have managed to produce a one-mile queue of traffic, six days a week, on the A19 at the outward approach to the new Park and Ride. This beats the combined total of the last eight years. Spoilt by cameras

Jean Glover suggests the "ugly" sculpture by Henry Moore spoils the ambience of the area around the Constantine the Great monument (Letters, February 27). Beauty is, of course, in the eye of the beholder. But I would suggest that the ambience of this most sensitive part of York, which contains very little of the 20th century, has been spoiled by the completely inappropriately placed video CCTV camera. Most of the time this points away from both of these beautiful statues, perhaps hoping to capture an anarchic moped rider scooting through Deangate.
