York Rugby Union Club 'A' team overwhelmed a Hull 'A' XV several places above them in the 'A' Teams' Merit Table, winning 32-7.

York's support play was their best this season, with four or five players always available to receive the ball. They achieved this with a scratch side and without any replacements on the bench.

Scrum-half Arkle burst forward to set prop Andy Smith away to crash over for his first try for the second team. Richard Sawyer kicked the conversion.

Mal Creasey weaved his way over for a home side try which Mark Sanderson converted, but York stormed forward again and Sawyer kicked a 45 yard penalty.

York wasted a number of chances, but Ed Ramos, at number eight, scored a push-over try. Andy Huetson went over and then scored a superb solo try, and Sawyer kicked a penalty and two conversions to round off an excellent game.
