Norton trainer Malcolm Jefferson's decision not to send Kings Measure to next week's Cheltenham Festival can pay dividends at Carlisle tomorrow.

Jefferson saddles the talented seven-year-old in the £10,000 Edinburgh Woollen Mills Novices' Chase.

Formerly a very useful hurdler, Kings Measure has taken well to fences this season, winning three races and finishing an excellent second to the more experienced Aghawadda Gold at Haydock last time.

Tomorrow's stiffer course and softer ground will bring Kings Measure's proven stamina into play even more and I fancy this progressive gelding to win. Graham Lee has the mount.

Jefferson and Lee and can also win the Queens Hotel, Kirkham Handicap Chase with Wellswood.

An out-and-out stayer who has nothing to fear from tomorrow's three and a quarter miles, Wellswood was a creditable four lengths second to Folly Road at Market Rasen recently. His first success over fences is overdue.

At Wincanton, Nicky Henderson can warm up for his big Cheltenham Festival assault by taking the feature race with Royal Toast.

The Lambourn trainer, who has a host of fancied runners heading to Cheltenham next week, including Mister Banjo, Dusk Duel, Marlborough and Makounji, has placed Royal Toast to win his last two races.

A hat-trick looks on the cards for this progressive eight-year-old in the £10,000 Wincanton Logistics Handicap Chase.

The Nap vote is sportingly awarded to Roborette in the wide-open Sparkford Handicap Hurdle.

Jim Neville's lightly-raced mare finished third to Henry Island over two and a half miles at Huntingdon last time.

Tomorrow's extra two furlongs is expected to bring about further improvement and Roborette could well pop-up at rewarding odds under Ritchie Forristal, who is excellent value for his 3lb allowance.
