Further to the article about low-cost housing in Shambles, I felt sure the date had to be April 1. But no, apparently the self-proclaimed impoverished City of York Council really is proposing renting out one-bedroomed flats at a subsidised rate above the shops in this prestigious area. Shambles is known for its history and individuality, so why not sell them, make vast amounts of easy money and 'do-up' the city's eyesores?
