The sound of music has been especially sweet for St Leonard's Hospice, as charity-minded choristers have donated £1,000 towards its Millennium Appeal.
The 1,500-strong audience at the 42nd annual Community Carol Concert at the Barbican Centre in December helped to raise £2,878.76.
Organisers have already allotted £1,000 to our Hospice 2000 Appeal, another £1,000 to the Lord Mayor and Sheriff of York's Christmas Cheer Fund, and £500 for the Breast Care Trust Fund at York District Hospital.
Karen Russell, finance and fundraising manager at the hospice, said: "The carol concert is a wonderful community event and really brings everyone together. Thank you to all those who organised and supported the event."
